The Noble Virtues

Courage
Face life clear-eyed and bold, we are built to sail uncharted waters.
Monsters exist to challenge our resolve, and for us to vanquish. Press on, regardless.

Discipline
Hold the course; steady as you go. Much is lost by the late sleeper.
To fulfill your purpose, neither coerce nor be coerced.

Truth
Blind faith holds no place for us. Lies are poison dripping.
Speak true or speak not. If aware another is wicked, say so. Do not trifle.

Honor
Oaths are kept or not made. Standards are banners held high.
Act always with nobility. We are the agents on earth of the gods and our ancestors.

Fidelity
Fulfill your duties and obligations; keep faith.
Give loyalty to tried friends and kin; devotion to ancestors and gods; allegiance if deserved.

Respect
Share with your fellows, especially travellers. Be a good host and guest.
Treat strangers with kindness, but put no faith in their words.

Tolerance
Have patience. The best have faults, the worst have worth.
Reproach not; mock not, for tables often turn. Hear the counsel of the old.

Modesty
Of knowledge, never boast; moderate at council be. Keep your wits about you.
Work hard, strive to improve, excel. Don't overstay your welcome.

Distinction
Trust not an acre early sown, nor praise a son too soon.
Be not overwary, but wary enough. A wayfarer should not walk unarmed.
